For water heaters, I have to say the Gas Tankless is a pleasure to use, is much more efficient than our painfully expensive and ineffective Heat pump, and you are not losing a lot of energy to transmission costs as the heat gets transferred to the water. I wonder if there is a happy medium with an electric tank water heater and solar water panels? Maybe more environmentally friendly and reduce the need to heat from zero.
I suspect tankless gas would be a really good user experience.
But if possible, I'd like to move away from burning fossil fuels every time I take a shower or run the dishwasher, and since here electricity comes from almost 100% hydro, that seems like a good choice... Hmm, I'm still undecided ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
