"How many life-changing people have de-orbited you"
The responsibility of any creator is to do the work, not judge it.
Your job is to fall in love with the process, not grade the outcome.
—James Clear
🛀💭🤗 Life's greatest treasures are the good people we find.
(Whether for friendship, romance, work, or learning…)
They’re rare. So when you find them, don’t take it lightly.
Recognize these precious connections and embrace them fully.
How many life-changing people have de-orbited you through neglect, timidity, self-centeredness, inattention, etc..?
When two people are well-matched, they make each other better. They alter each other’s life trajectory.
Focus on giving, and the rest will take care of itself.
🛀💭💃🏻🪞💃🏻 I don’t know why, but I’ve been thinking about the doppelgänger scene near the end of the film ‘Annihilation’ (2018). (Warning: the link is a spoiler if you haven’t seen the film).
It’s even better because it takes place in a lighthouse — you know how much I love lighthouses!
It’s powerful and rich with metaphor.
I’ve been researching it — the writing, cinematography, performance, music, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, etc. Here’s a good technical article about the cinematography of the film (with spoilers). Maybe I’ll write about it at some point…
👮🏻♂️🚔🚨🔵🔴 I always assumed that police car lights — at least here in North America — were red and blue because these colors are widely separated in the visible light spectrum, giving them high contrast (and I guess violet wasn't manly enough for the boys in blue 🤔).
But that was just a guess. I decided to look it up:
Historically, red was the first color used by police vehicles due to its visibility and association with traffic signals and railroad warnings, and its established psychological connection with urgency.
Blue was added later, particularly in the 1960s, for several practical reasons. It stands out because it's less common in everyday road lighting, and it's better at penetrating fog and other adverse weather conditions. It also helps distinguish police vehicles from other red lights on the road, like brake lights.
There is a theory that the red and blue combo helps address color blindness: everyone can see at least one color.
Trivia: In Indonesia (🇮🇩) and Bahrain (🇧🇭) police use blue only, but ambulances use red and blue or red only. In Austria (🇦🇹) and Germany (🇩🇪) police vehicles use blue only. In Japan (🇯🇵) and Thailand (🇹🇭), police vehicles use most red only (sometimes they have blue lights too, but red is the standard, though I think that recently changed in Japan).
🔊🎶👦🏻🎶🧒🏼 🎶 I wonder if I could take a terrible song and turn it into a nostalgic childhood classic for my kids through sheer repetition at an impressionable age.
I bet I could. 🤔
Not sure if I should, though 😬
