Love it. I've been waiting for this movie for 40 years. Read Dune twice when younger and once more just a few months ago. Amazed that this was really just the first half of the first book and there was so much detail left out. This movie could have gone another 1+ hours. My wife was thoroughly confused.
Yes! Definitely do the IMAX experience, it's perfect for an epic like this.
I'm definitely going to do a pre-briefing with my wife before we go (her first time). I think that whatever plot turns are spoiled by knowing a bit in advance is less a problem than being too confused.

She enjoyed it but didn't get the whole depth of the story.
