In regard to Oppenheimer, I am certainly not in the majority; I found the film underwhelming.

The pacing felt off, with too many short scenes laden with heavy fast-paced dialogue. Normally, I enjoy Nolan's non-chronological storytelling, but when that storytelling is combined with dialogue I couldn't hear over the soundtrack, and a total lack of context in scenes....who it that? Where is this? When is this? I found myself not enjoying the film.

I had the same problem with Tenet, which I also found to be disappointing.

I liked it a lot more than Tenet, but I do have some issues with it.. I'm still formulating what I think of it, which I'll put in the newsletter.

Thanks for sharing your take!

Like you, I've never really “worked with the public” or "been in a position where I am exposed to *a random selection* of people, but I've managed to preserve just enough in the way of normal, non-screen human interactions to still know some people who fit this bill. They often work in medicine. And though the selection of people they see isn't quite random, it's often complimentary in interesting ways - namely, older. I believe you wrote about the benefits of cross-generational interactions for children, and I think that same dynamic extends to younger professionals.

On a different topic, your AI art is getting really good. If you've written any sort of a how-to guide for which tools you're using and how, I'd love to see it.

Yes, as I was writing that, I was thinking back to how age-segregated our society tends to be. That's another thing that prevents us from having a representative cross-section sample!

Thank you, it's been fun to experiment with visual generative AI!

I haven't written too much about the tools and 'how to' aspect. That's not a bad idea. I'm just a newbie, so there are probably much better sources (various ones on Youtube, or Twitter accounts like Nick St-Pierre), but it's fun to built in public and share the journey 🤔
