Glad you mentioned potential regulatory challenges in the future for this Apple / Google arrangement.

If the FTC is coming after Amazon for essentially having too many users (the "hidden tax" they talk about), I don't see how it makes sense that Apple can charge so much money for preferable access to it's user base. Maybe I'm not thinking about every angle but it seems to be contradictory at some level 🧐.

Regulation is largely about what politicians think will get them more votes. If something is very visible to lots of voters, it's more likely to get action. If it's relatively hidden and esoteric, it's less likely.

That's my heuristic anyway. that's why B2B and enterprise companies rare get into trouble, and and consumer companies regularly do.

I think this is pretty spot on, and I tend to follow the same logic when I think about antitrust. I guess I also thought that the hyperscalers were in the crosshairs regardless of the obscurity of their dealings, but maybe not!

Super thought provoking edition, I'm going to check out the stick figure math video tonight :).
