Thanks also for continuing AI discourse. I know almost nothing & use it in the most cursory way (i.e. do me an analyst report on company X as a starter). Most people I know are similar, and do not use it at work.
So I still wonder whether this is a disconnect between what is going on in SF & other tech hubs, and the real world, where the general frustration is that so many things don't work (e.g. this morning I couldn't get to work as my Lime software on my phone broke!). I may be wrong, but just like to pushback as all the AI stuff I read is disproportionately positive, and I just don't see it - it feels like there are so many important problems (schools, hospitals, infrastructure, & most importantly, the behaviour of politicians) which I struggle to see how AI will help with. Thanks.
Thanks Tom! I agree, it's sometimes hard to separate the hype and reality, or escape echo chambers. I try to stay skeptical and pragmatic. I do think it's extremely power and general, so it'll probably help with a lot of things eventually... but it'll take some time, and the first things are the ones where it has the best product/market fit (eg. coding).
Things are changing so fast, I just try to keep up. But who knows what the next bend in the river will be or where we'll be in 2 years!
Thanks! I probably wasn't clear, but I meant to compare just the names/branding, not the size/performance of the models. I agree with you that it wouldn't be fair otherwise (Sol is probably more Mythos/Fable level, but we'll see).

Nice article but for symetry you should have sol/terra/luna vs Opus/Sonnet/Haiku but agree they improved the naming significantly
