Yea, I think it's much easier for someone outside of a field to underestimate how complex it actually is. You only look at what you know and what you see, and there's a lot of dark matter in a lot of those industries.
I also love the idea of putting things around the house to elicit curiosity from children living in the house and visitors. Globes and maps hold special places in our house.
