On a side note, I wish Substack would give back 30% to the writers if the readers choose to buy from web vs. the tax landlord Mr. Apple (not sure how it works) but would be good to then ask readers to choose the correct payment :)

I used to feel the same about founders podcast (but now it’s free ! Ya) hope you also find new and clever ways to create and monetise your efforts
10 dollars a month - Rs 800 inr I know it would not sound much but many folks in india 🇮🇳 would find it costly :( may be there can be ways in which folks can contribute and earn access to the paid community could be good way to build a community too
But I am a free but a vocal supporter who has been reading and asking my friends and family to subscribe to your newsletter too !
I've tried very hard, I've kept it 100% open for 28 months.
But I also have to make a living and feed my kids, and my kind of content isn't as good a fit for David's model. Advertising has always been a small minority of revenue, and that has been harder too in 2022.
I understand that purchasing power is different in different countries, but unfortunately, all my expenses are here where life is rather expensive, and I don't have millions of subs where even getting a tiny amount from a tiny % would add up to a nice living. So the model I'm trying now seems to be the best trade off. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you. Afaik there’s no platform cut anywhere. You can only buy from a browser even on mobile, not the substack app.
