I think the contrast between Perplexity and Artifact is interesting. I tried Artifact a few times but it didn't really feel interesting or fill an obvious need for me. I rarely "discovered" content on Artifact that I had not seen or heard other places (newsletters, X, etc.). Perplexity (and other apps like Metaphor and Elicit) fill a different role, they have quickly become the starting point for intentional searches and showcase content that I often would not have been aware of.
On paper, Artifact should be compelling, but the proof's always in the pudding, and it just wasn't very useful.
I hope Perplexity stays independent and grows into a great company over time. Too many startups with great potential sell too early and we never find out what they could have done.
Hmm 🤔 I had never heard of Perplexity before - thanks for sharing!
Let me know what you think of it. I now use it many times each day.
Definitely want to dig into perplexity more now
Ask it to tell you interesting things that aren't widely known about some of your favorite movies or books. It's a good way to test drive it!

What do you reckon your favourite Jake G performance is?? It’s probably Nightcrawler for me…
Hmm, that's a tough one. I've seen the movies over such a long period that it's hard to compare it all in my mind.
I'll tell you the one that I think didn't get enough attention: "Source Code".

Well said, Nikkev!
